Tour Description: Tahoe Star Tours is the premier star gazing experience in the western United States. Star Guide Tony will take you on a star gazing experience like no other. Each Star Tour includes a science talk , quiz (with prizes), and poetry around the fire pits of the Lodge at Big Springs at Northstar, followed by a laser tour of the sky, and viewing through Celestron Telescopes with Ryan. During “Space Jam Star Tours” Tony teams with interesting guests in an impromptu talk about interesting astronomy topics. This year we are pleased to have Mike Simmons, President of Astronomers Without Borders, for our August Space Jam. Also, in August, come experience "Perseid Meteor Shower Americana Style" featuring Annette Markin, and her restored vintage Shasta camping trailer. Closing out the season we will have two “Tribute to Carl Sagan” evenings. One featuring Emily Lakdawalla, Senior Editor and Planetary Evangelist of the Planetary Society, and the second featuring Dr. Melodi Rodrigue, Astro Physicist from the University of Nevada. Concert Star Tours will be a special treat this season. The String Quartet Accent will join Tony in the Butterfly Lounge in Living Room of the Rtiz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe for an indoor concert with observing afterward at the Lodge at Big Springs. Information: Meet at 8:15 PM in the Members Lounge of the Constellation Club (Top of the Highlands Gondola leading to the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe) at the Northstar Resort, Truckee,Ca. Guests of the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe should meet on the MountainBlue Terrace at 8:20 PM. Bring comfortable shoes for walking and warm clothing. Do not bring personal telescopes. Binoculars and puppies are welcomed.
